Miles, where the freight is the decision
Miles is an hour and a half west of Dalby, where the Warrego meets the Leichhardt. Grazing, cropping and gas country, and far enough out that a part on the place is worth more than a part on order. The box still starts from Downs-held stock. What changes is the length of the haul, so we pair drops when we can and the freight comes out kinder than a one-off from the coast.
The truck costs about the same either way
Once you are past Dalby, the vehicle movement is a large share of the bill, and it does not double because you chose a longer box. A forty-foot delivered to Miles is often the better room for the money, and people who take the shorter one have a habit of calling back. If a second unit is even a possibility this year, ask about sending both while the truck is already coming. It is a cheap conversation.

Dust, heat, and tracks that change with the week
The enemy out here is not salt air. It is fine dust, summer heat, and boxes that sit shut for months. Dry door seals let dust in, so the door gear wants grease once a year if you expect them to open in a hurry. Anything with rubber, adhesive or a battery ages quickly in a closed steel room through a western summer. Vents at both ends, fitted before delivery, matter more than they cost.
Condamine (4416), downriver, and Wandoan (4419), north into the cattle country, are on this same western run. Property tracks are excellent when dry and unreliable when they are not. Grids of uncertain age, and the occasional creek crossing, decide the job. Describe the last few kilometres when you enquire and we will pick the vehicle around that, not around the town sign.

Is Miles too far west for you?
No. Miles, Condamine and Wandoan are on the western run. Because it is a long haul we combine deliveries when the dates allow, which is why a local quote is often better than people expect.
Is a longer container worth it at Miles?
Often, yes, if you have room for the truck to work. The trip costs much the same, so the extra length is the cheap part. We will price both lengths against your track rather than talk you into the bigger one.
How far off the bitumen is the Miles drop?
The highway is the easy half. The last kilometres, and whether you might want two units, are what we need.
