Shipping containers Millmerran

South-west on the Gore Highway, where the cropping country starts to give way to timber and grazing. Millmerran runs on a mix that most Downs towns don't have — farming, a power station and a timber industry all in the same district — and the container demand reflects it.

The jobs a container does in Millmerran

Around Millmerran it's mostly industrial and maintenance storage, timber and building materials kept off the ground, farm workshop stores, and secure gear storage on grazing country running west towards the Condamine. The job dictates the grade — a workshop conversion and a hay store are not the same purchase, and we'd rather say so before you buy than after.

Guide pricing only, ex GST — what you pay delivered depends on where you are and what's in the yard that week. Ring (07) 4516 5999 and we'll give you a real number, not a range. Freight to Millmerran is quoted with the container, so the number you're given is the number you pay.

Maintenance stores and shutdown work

Industrial maintenance runs on having the right thing on site at the right hour, and on being able to lock it up when the crew goes home. A 40ft with racking is a very common answer, and a hired unit for the length of a shutdown is an even more common one.

Hire from $27 a week on a 20ft, cargo-worthy grade, watertight for the whole hire, on terms that end when the job does. If it turns out you want to keep it, we'll talk about a buy-out rather than starting the paperwork again.

Timber, and getting it off the ground

Sawn timber stored badly is money thrown away — ground contact, sheet water and sun will do more damage in one summer than years of proper storage. A container with the doors facing away from the weather, blocked up level, with the stack on bearers and a bit of airflow through it, keeps timber in the condition you bought it in.

The airflow part matters more than people think. Sealed steel with green or freshly milled timber inside it will sweat, and the timber will bloom. Vents at both ends, or leave the doors cracked and locked open on dry days.

Getting it onto your Millmerran block

The Gore Highway run in is easy and the town itself is uncomplicated. Off the bitumen the country is mixed — some good firm going through the timbered blocks, some heavy soil that behaves like the rest of the Downs after rain. Industrial and maintenance sites out this way tend to have proper hardstand and no access problem at all, which makes them among the quicker deliveries we do. For the rural jobs, the usual questions apply: recent rain, gate widths, and what's overhead on the approach.

Everything else is universal — weight-bearing footing, a lined-up run, and clear space above the placement point. Any doubt on those is best resolved with photographs rather than measurements over the phone. The access guide has the lot.

Millmerran — common questions

Do you deliver to Millmerran?

Yes — Millmerran, Brookstead, Cambooya and the Gore Highway corridor generally are all part of our regular southern Downs run. Ring (07) 4516 5999 for a delivered price.

Can I hire rather than buy?

Yes. 20ft hire starts from $27 a week on flexible terms, which suits shutdowns and jobs with a defined end. If the job runs past a year or two, we'll usually tell you that buying is the better number.
